MECO 6318 Energy Markets & Policy (3 semester credit hours) The objective of this course is to provide an economic perspective on a variety of topics relevant to professionals working in the energy industry. Topics include the effects of competition and market power, the theory of externalities, and government regulation of energy markets. Through case studies and real-world examples, students will explore the economic and environmental impacts of different policies, including carbon pricing, emissions trading, energy efficiency standards, and renewable energy mandates.
