EESC6353 - Broadband Digital Communication
EESC 6353 Broadband Digital Communication (3 semester credit hours) Characterization of broadband wireline and wireless channels. MAP and ML detection. Intersymbol Interference (ISI) effects. Equalization methods to mitigate ISI including single-carrier and multi-carrier (OFDM) techniques. Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) communication systems. Implementation issues including complexity, channel estimation, bias and decision delay. Real-world case studies from DSL and wireless (cellular and WiFi) systems. Students work individually or in small teams on a project and present their findings to class. Corequisites: (EESC 6349 or equivalent) and knowledge of MATLAB. (3-0) T
