BIOL6397 - Lipid Metabolism in Health and Disease
BIOL 6397 Lipid Metabolism in Health and Disease (3 semester credit hours) Covers the basic concepts of lipid biology and metabolism as well as the roles of these lipids in health and disease states. The course will also provide knowledge of experimental tools and techniques used in the study of lipid absorption, synthesis, and mobilization. Course content will emphasize animal models in biomedical research as well as lipidomics and metabolomics in the identification of disease biomarkers. In addition to lectures, there are 10 journal clubs dedicated to in-depth understanding and discussion of scientific literature. Department consent required. (3-0) Y
