Micro-Credentials

Micro-credentials are designed for undergraduate students seeking to supplement their bachelor's degrees with additional skills in the field.

Micro-Credential in Creative Writing

6 semester credit hours

The Micro-credential in Creative Writing will provide students with training in creative writing alongside their primary undergraduate specializations in other disciplines.

Admission Requirements

This Micro-credential is open to all UT Dallas students enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.

Students may register for the program the same semester they are taking the applicable courses.

Course Requirements

Required Course (3 semester credit hours)

CRWT 2301 Introduction to Creative Writing

Choose one course from the following: (3 semester credit hours)

CRWT 3306 Fiction Workshop

CRWT 3308 Creative Nonfiction Workshop

CRWT 3351 Poetry Workshop

CRWT 3354 Screenwriting Workshop

CRWT 3355 Comics Workshop

Micro-Credential in Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights

6 semester credit hours

These interdisciplinary classes are dedicated to the study of mass murder, genocide, and persecution resulting from cultural, ethnic, political, religious, and racial differences and are especially beneficial to students graduating with degrees in History and the Humanities as well as many other areas of study.

Admission Requirements

Students may register for the program the same semester they are taking the applicable courses.

Course Requirements

Required Courses (6 semester credit hours)

The badges require the completion of two courses:

HIST 2370 The Holocaust

HIST 3307 War, Genocide, and Human Rights

Micro-Credential in Intercultural Communication

6 semester credit hours

The Micro-credential in Intercultural Communication will help students master cultural competencies as related generally to communication, but it will also help students perfect their soft skills (e.g., teamwork, collaboration) for the global economy.

Admission Requirements

This Micro-credential is open to all UT Dallas students enrolled in an undergraduate degree program.

Good standing at UT Dallas is required for enrollment.

COMM 3350 Intercultural Communication

Choose one course from the following: (3 semester credit hours)

COMM 3340 Small Group Communication

COMM 3352 Media and Culture

COMM 3353 Nonverbal Communication

COMM 4380 Communication and Culture in Japan

6 semester credit hours

The Micro-credential in Legal Research and Writing is designed for students from any major who intend to pursue legal education after graduation.

Admission Requirements

Students may register for the program the same semester they are taking the applicable courses.
