1 Incoming freshmen must enroll and complete requirements of UNIV 1010 and the corresponding school-related freshman seminar course. Students, including transfer students, who complete their core curriculum at UT Dallas must take UNIV 2020.
2Curriculum Requirements can be fulfilled by other approved courses from accredited institutions of higher education. The courses listed are recommended as the most efficient way to satisfy both Core Curriculum and Major Requirements at UT Dallas.
3Indicates a prerequisite class to be completed before enrolling for upper-division classes. Specific prerequisites are required for certain upper-division courses. Review requirements for your major and choose accordingly.
4A required course in the Major that also fulfills a Core Curriculum requirement. Semester credit hours are counted in Core Curriculum. Students must choose a different course for each Core Curriculum category:
  • BA 1310 or BA 1320 or ECON 2301 or ECON 2302 satisfies 080 Social and Behavioral Sciences Core Curriculum (if not applied towards other Core Curriculum requirements) and a Major Preparatory requirement
  • MATH 1326 satisfies 3 semester credit hours 090 Component Area Option Core Curriculum (if not applied towards other Core Curriculum requirements) and a Major Preparatory requirement
  • BA 1310 or BA 1320 or ECON 2301 or ECON 2302 satisfies 3 semester credit hours 090 Component Area Option Core Curriculum (if not applied towards other Core Curriculum requirements) and a Major Preparatory requirement
5MATH 1325 is required for all JSOM undergraduate students. Students may substitute MATH 2413 or MATH 2417 for MATH 1325. Students may substitute MATH 2414 or MATH 2419 for MATH 1326. Students who complete OPRE 3340 instead of MATH 1326 or MATH 2414 or MATH 2419 will require an 090 Component Area Option Core course to meet the 120 semester credit hour requirement for graduation.
6To make timely degree progress, students should complete MATH 1325 or its equivalent by the end of their first semester at UT Dallas. Students who will not meet this requirement should contact their academic advisor to discuss their degree timeline.
7Students may substitute MATH 2333 or MATH 2418 or CS 2305 for OPRE 3333.
8JSOM first-time-in-college freshmen are required to take BCOM 1300 in their first semester. Transfer students and students new to JSOM are required to take BCOM 3300 in their first semester.
9Major Related Courses: Students must choose 6 courses from the following 7 courses: OPRE 3320, OPRE 3330, OPRE 4310, OPRE 4320, OPRE 4330, OPRE 4340, or OPRE 4362. If a student takes all 7, the remaining course can be used as a Guided Elective.
10Free Electives: 3-6 semester credit hours are required for the B.S. in Supply Chain Management. Students who complete MATH 1326 or MATH 2414 or MATH 2419 instead of OPRE 3340 will require 3 semester credit hours (for a total of 6 semester credit hours) of free electives to meet the 120 semester credit hour requirement for graduation. Students who complete OPRE 3340 instead of MATH 1326 or MATH 2414 or MATH 2419 will require an 090 Component Area Option Core course and 3 semester credit hours of free electives to meet the 120 semester credit hour requirement for graduation.
11SCM Guided Electives: 12 semester credit hours - Students wishing to obtain in-depth knowledge in a specific business area depending on their interests (Tracks A, B, C, or D) or that prefer to follow a General Track (Track E) must choose at least 9 semester credit hours from one of the following tracks. Any remaining Guided Elective hours may be used toward the internship or community engagement requirement:
  • Digital Supply Chain Management Track - OPRE 4350, OPRE 4357, ITSS 4340, MKT 4330
  • Project Management and Leadership Track - OPRE 4355, MKT 3320, MKT 3330, OBHR 4352
  • Analytics Track - OPRE 4337, OPRE 4350, OPRE 4353, MKT 4341
  • Global Supply Chains and Strategy Track - OPRE 3370, OPRE 4345, OPRE 4362 (if not used as Major Related course), BPS 4305
  • General Track - Any of the courses listed in Tracks A, B, C, or D; or any OPRE upper-division courses that are not part of the BS SCM major preparatory, major core, or not used in major related courses, may be used to satisfy the General Track. At least 6 of the 12 semester credit hours used in the General Track must have an OPRE prefix.
12An Internship (Practicum) of at least 160 working hours is required for all JSOM majors. OPRE 4V90 for credit hours (1-3) can apply towards a free or guided elective if applicable. OPRE 4090 or BA 4090 fulfills degree requirement only. Students who are employed in full-time jobs may fulfill their internship requirement with their current employer as a special project for registration in BA 4090 with preapproval from their program director. 13OPRE 4090 or BA 4090 is required, if not completing OPRE 4V90 towards a free or guided elective. 15BA 4095 is required, if not completing BPS 4396 or ENTP 4340 or IMS 4335 or MKT 4360 for a 3 semester credit hours free or guided elective.
