1 Incoming freshmen must enroll and complete requirements of UNIV 1010 and the corresponding school-related freshman seminar course. Students, including transfer students, who complete their core curriculum at UT Dallas must take UNIV 2020.
2 Curriculum Requirements can be fulfilled by other approved courses from accredited institutions of higher education. The courses listed are recommended as the most efficient way to satisfy both Core Curriculum and Major Requirements at UT Dallas.
3 Students completing the 020 requirement with a MATH course must complete ALEKS exam prior to enrollment. PHIL 2303 does not require the ALEKS exam.
4If the student takes this course to satisfy their core, then the student may choose any free elective in its place as a lower-level major requirement.
5PHIL Prep = PHIL 1301, PHIL 1305, or PHIL 1306. NOTE: If the student took one of these courses as their core, then the student may choose any free elective in its place as a lower-level major requirement.
6History of Philosophy = 6 SCH from (PHIL 2316 or PHIL 3322), (PHIL 2317 or PHIL 3323), or (PHIL 3323 or PHIL 3324).
7Philosophy Type = PHIL 4326, PHIL 4327, PHIL 3321, PHIL 4322, PHIL 4380, PHIL 3309, PHIL 3320, PHIL 3328, PHIL 3338, PHIL 3357, PHIL 3375, PHIL 4308, PHIL 4321, PHIL 4323, PHIL 4324, PHIL 4325, PHIL 4330, PHIL 4331, PHIL 4332, PHIL 4333, or PHIL 4344.
8PHIL Elective = any 3000 or 4000-level PHIL course.
9 Major Related = ARHM 3100, ARHM 3342, ATCM 3300, ATCM 4384, CGS 2301, (CGS 3325 or PSY 3360), (CGS 4320 or PSY 4320), (CGS 4362 or PSY 4362), COMM 3351, COMM 3352, COMM 4360, ECON 4301, ECON 4381, GST 2300, HIST 3302, HIST 3376, HIST 3377, HIST 4380, IPEC 4305, LIT 3316, LIT 3317, LIT 3330, OBHR 4310, PSCI 3301, PSCI 3303, PSCI 3306, PSCI 4328, PSCI 4334, PSCI 4357, PSY 3324, PSY 3331, PSY 4325, SOC 2305, SOC 1306, SOC 3303, or any RELS course.
10 Free Elective = any lower or upper-level course. Students may need to take some as upper-level to meet the university requirement of earning a minimum of 45 semester credit hours of upper-level courses.
Be sure to check prerequisites of 2000-level or higher courses.
