NOTES:
1 Incoming freshmen must enroll and complete requirements of UNIV 1010 and the corresponding school-related freshman seminar course. Students, including transfer students, who complete their core curriculum at UT Dallas must take UNIV 2020.
2 LATS Prep Course = HIST 2350 and 6 SCH from (LIT 2350, HIST 3301, or GEOG 2303). Any of these courses that also satisfy core requirements may be replaced with free elective hours.
3 Students completing the 020 requirement with a MATH course must complete ALEKS exam prior to enrollment. PHIL 2303 does not require the ALEKS exam.
4 Language Course = any SPAN language course (or approved course of another language relevant to Latin American Studies).
5 LATS Major Core = LATS 3301 and (HIST 3398 or HIST 3399)
6 LATS Elective = Students must complete courses from the following list in at least two disciplinary areas. Students must complete at least 9 semester credit hours in a single disciplinary area. HISTORY = HIST 3391, HIST 3398, HIST 3399, HIST 4369, HIST 4359, or HIST 3397. SOCIAL SCIENCES = CRIM 3319, GEOG 2302, GEOG 3304, GEOG 3359, GEOS 2321, or PSCI 4348. LANG, LIT, & CULTURE = LATS 3301, LATS 3302, LATS 3303, any 3000 or 4000-level SPAN.
7 Free Elective = any lower or upper-level course. Students may need to take some as upper-level to meet the university requirement of earning a minimum of 45 semester credit hours of upper-level courses.
Students wishing to pursue a teacher certification should see an advisor for additional requirements.
Be sure to check prerequisites of 2000-level or higher courses.
