3 Students with non-academic obligations (for example, full time jobs) who cannot study abroad for an entire semester may request a waiver to substitute 2 faculty-led international study trip courses (IMS 3091, IMS 3092, IMS 3093, IMS 3094, IMS 3095, IMS 3096, IMS 3V91, IMS 3V92, IMS 3V93, IMS 3V94, IMS 3V95, IMS 3V96). An international internship may also be substituted for the semester of study abroad.

Some GLBS concentrations require specific prerequisites:

  • Business Economics Concentration: ECON 2301 is a prerequisite for FIN 3350; ECON 2302 and OPRE 3360 are prerequisites for ECON 3310; ECON 3310, an approved concentration course, is prerequisite for MECO 4351
  • Energy Management Concentration: ECON 2302 is a prerequisite for MECO 4342

7 In order to make timely degree progress, students should complete MATH 1325 or its equivalent by the end of their first semester at UT Dallas. Students who will not meet this requirement should contact their academic advisor to discuss their degree timeline.
8 JSOM first-time-in-college freshmen are required to take BCOM 1300 in their first semester. Transfer students and students new to JSOM are required to take BCOM 3300 in their first semester.
9 Global Business Electives: 18 semester credit hours are required for the B.S. in Global Business. Both lower- and upper-division courses may count as electives but students must complete at least 51 semester credit hours of upper-division courses to qualify for graduation.

11 Internship (Practicum) of at least 160 working hours required for all JSOM majors. NOTES:
1 Incoming freshmen must enroll and complete requirements of UNIV 1010 and the corresponding school-related freshman seminar course. Students, including transfer students, who complete their core curriculum at UT Dallas must take UNIV 2020.
2 Curriculum Requirements can be fulfilled by other approved courses from accredited institutions of higher education. The courses listed are recommended as the most efficient way to satisfy both Core Curriculum and Major Requirements at UT Dallas.
3 Students with non-academic obligations (for example, full time jobs) who cannot study abroad for an entire semester may request a waiver to substitute 2 faculty-led international study trip courses (IMS 3091, IMS 3092, IMS 3093, IMS 3094, IMS 3095, IMS 3096, IMS 3V91, IMS 3V92, IMS 3V93, IMS 3V94, IMS 3V95, IMS 3V96). An international internship may also be substituted for the semester of study abroad.
4 Indicates a prerequisite class to be completed before enrolling for upper-division classes. Specific prerequisites are required for certain upper-division courses (e.g. BA 1310 or BA 1320 or ECON 2301 for IMS 3310). Review Requirements for your major and choose accordingly.

Some GLBS concentrations require specific prerequisites:
  • Business Analytics Concentration: (MATH 1326 or MATH 2414 or MATH 2419 or OPRE 3340) and (OPRE 3333 or MATH 2333 or MATH 2418 or CS 2305) are prerequisites for FIN 3390; OBHR 3330 is a prerequisite for OBHR 4337
  • Business Economics Concentration: ECON 2301 is a prerequisite for FIN 3350; ECON 2302 is a prerequisite for ECON 3310; ECON 3310, an approved concentration course, is prerequisite for MECO 4351
5 A required course in the Major that also fulfills a Core Curriculum requirement. Semester credit hours are counted in Core Curriculum
  • BA 1310 or BA 1320 or ECON 2301 or ECON 2302 fulfills Major Preparatory and 080 Social and Behavioral Science Core Curriculum requirements
  • BA 1310 or ECON 2302 or BA 1320 or ECON 2301 fulfills Major Preparatory and 090 Component Area Option Core Curriculum requirements
6 Students may elect to substitute MATH 2413 or MATH 2417 for MATH 1325.
7 In order to make timely degree progress, students should complete MATH 1325 or its equivalent by the end of their first semester at UT Dallas. Students who will not meet this requirement should contact their academic advisor to discuss their degree timeline.
8 JSOM first-time-in-college freshmen are required to take BCOM 1300 in their first semester. Transfer students and students new to JSOM are required to take BCOM 3300 in their first semester.
9 Global Business Electives: 18 semester credit hours are required for the B.S. in Global Business. Both lower- and upper-division courses may count as electives but students must complete at least 51 semester credit hours of upper-division courses to qualify for graduation.
10 Global Business Concentrations: 12-15 semester credit hours, depending on the chosen concentration - please refer to degree plan or undergraduate catalog for specific courses.
11 Internship (Practicum) of at least 160 working hours required for all JSOM majors. IMS 4090 Management Internship or BA 4090 Management Internship for 0 credit hours will fulfill degree requirement only. 12 IMS 4090 Management Internship or BA 4090 Management Internship is required if not completing IMS 4V90 Management Internship for Elective credit. For more information, visit https://jindal.utdallas.edu/career-management-center/internships/
13 Community Engagement Experience required for all JSOM majors in fall 2018 catalog or later. Requirement fulfilled by (IMS 4335 or ENTP 4340 Social Sector Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement, or MKT 4360 Social Marketing) for 3-hour Elective; or BA 4095 Social Sector Engagement and Community Outreach Practicum for 0-hour degree requirement only. 14 BA 4095 Social Sector Engagement and Community Outreach Practicum is required, if not completing (IMS 4335 or ENTP 4340 Social Sector Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement, or MKT 4360 Social Marketing) for 3-hour Elective. Will be registered for BA 4095 for 0 hours, in the semester when student completes 100 service hours. If completing BA 4095, student must complete at least one hour of Elective credit to total 120 semester credit hours - 51 semester credit hours of which must be upper-division - to qualify for graduation.
