HIST3368 - North American Environmental History

HIST 3368 North American Environmental History (3 semester credit hours) Explores the complex relationship between humans and the natural world from the era of European exploration through the present. Topics may include the impact of American Indians on the environment prior to European contact; the ecological revolution wrought by European colonialism; the exploitation and ecological degradation of the American West and Midwest; the environmental impact of suburbanization; the growth of agribusiness; the birth and evolution of the conservation movement; and the rise of global ecological concerns.
