GEOS 3464 Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology (4 semester credit hours) Introduction to the petrographic microscope and its use for study of igneous and metamorphic minerals and rocks. Identification and classification of volcanic and plutonic igneous rocks and metamorphic rocks and their identification in thin sections. Introduction to major element chemical analyses of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Introduction to igneous and metamorphic petrogenesis. Lab fee of $30 required.
