BIOL 6389 (BIMS 6389) Cancer Discovery and Therapy: From Bench to Bedside (3 semester credit hours) Exploration of cancer biology. Focus on foundational basic and translational science. Emphasis on mechanisms underlying cancer development and progression. Topics include cancer pathology, histology, cell cycle regulation, oncogenes, and tumor suppressors. Coverage of cancer genetics and (epi)genetics. Examination of studies informing clinical trials and FDA-approved therapies. Prerequisites: (Two courses from the following - BIOL 5410 or BIOL 5420 or BIOL 5440 or BIOL 5460) and department consent required. (3-0) Y
