Degree Requirements
The Master of Science in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (MS BUAN) is a 36-credit-hour STEM-designated program that prepares students with the analytical, technical, and strategic skills needed to make effective data-driven decisions. The 18 credits of core courses provide a broad foundation in business analytics and AI, while 18 credits of electives allow students to learn more about specific business domains.
The program is offered in two forms: Flex and Cohort. The Flex Program provides the most choice, with electives available across 11 different tracks. The Cohort Program is designed for students who wish to take most of their courses as a cohort, with a focus on electives from the Accounting Analytics and Data Science tracks. The program offers both in-person and online options, with the online version enabling students to complete the program entirely online. Special tuition, fees, and admissions requirements apply to the cohort program. Both Flex and Cohort versions admit students in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
To apply for this degree program, an undergraduate degree is required (all majors are considered). In order to graduate, students must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average (GPA) across the program's core courses, across all graduate courses taken in the degree program, and across all courses taken at the graduate level at UTD.
Prerequisites
Students pursuing the Master of Science in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence degree program are required to fulfill one semester credit hour of MAS 6102 Professional Development course. In addition, knowledge of calculus is required and students who have not completed an undergraduate calculus course may satisfy the prerequisite by completing OPRE 6303 Quantitative Foundations of Business. Degree credit is not earned for program prerequisites, however, the grade achieved in prerequisites will count toward the student's grade-point average (GPA). All program prerequisites must be satisfied within the first semester of graduate study as a degree-seeking student.
