ACN6394 - Emotion, Cognition, and Psychopathology

ACN 6394 (CPSY 6394 and HCS 6394 and PSYC 6394) Emotion, Cognition, and Psychopathology (3 semester credit hours) Focus on cognitive-affective dynamics and the interdependent relations between thinking and feeling, and how these processes go awry in the development and maintenance of psychopathology. Application of interdisciplinary framework that includes biological and sociocultural perspectives to consider how affective states influence a variety of cognitive processes, including attention, decision-making, and cognitive control, and how cognition influences affective experience, regulation, and control. Emphasis on theory, research, and application to clinical populations such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and dissociative identity disorder. Prerequisites: (Upper-division cognitive psychology and upper-division developmental psychology or instructor consent required) and department consent required. (3-0) T
