1 Incoming freshmen must enroll and complete requirements of UNIV 1010 and the corresponding school-related freshman seminar course. Students, including transfer students, who complete their core curriculum at UT Dallas must take UNIV 2020.
2 Curriculum Requirements can be fulfilled by other approved courses from accredited institutions of higher education. The courses listed are recommended as the most efficient way to satisfy both Core Curriculum and Major Requirements at UT Dallas.

5 Students may elect to substitute MATH 2413 or MATH 2417 for MATH 1325. Students may elect to substitute MATH 2414 or MATH 2419 for MATH 1326.
6 In order to make timely degree progress, students should complete MATH 1325 or its equivalent by the end of their first semester at UT Dallas. Students who will not meet this requirement should contact their academic advisor to discuss their degree timeline.
7 Students may substitute MATH 2333 or MATH 2418 or CS 2305.
8 JSOM first-time-in-college freshmen are required to take BCOM 1300 in their first semester. Transfer students and students new to JSOM are required to take BCOM 3300 in their first semester.
9 Free Electives: 0-3 semester credit hours are required for the B.S. in Information Technology and Systems. Students who complete OPRE 3340 instead of MATH 1326 will complete zero semester credit hours of free electives. Instead, these students should complete their second 090 Component Area Option Core Curriculum requirement. Students who complete MATH 1326 instead of OPRE 3340 will complete three semester credit hours of free electives.
10 Students who have completed CS 1336 with a C or better may replace ITSS 3311 with an additional ITSS upper-division course (excluding ITSS 4301). Students who have completed CS 1337 with a C or better may replace (ITSS 3312 or ITSS 4381) with an additional ITSS upper-division course (excluding ITSS 4301).
11 INTS Guided Electives: 12 semester credit hours from one of the following tracks:
  • Business Intelligence and Analytics Track - ITSS 4352, ITSS 4353, ITSS 4354, ITSS 4355
  • Enterprise Systems Track - ITSS 4340, ITSS 4353, ITSS 4343, (ACCT 4342 or ITSS 4342 or ACCT 3322)
  • IT Sales Engineering Track - ITSS 4340, MKT 3330, MKT 4331, (any ITSS upper-division course, excluding ITSS 4301 Database Systems, that is not part of the BS INTS major preparatory, major core, or major related courses)
  • IT Product Development Track - ENTP 3301, ENTP 3320, (any 2 ITSS upper-division courses, excluding ITSS 4301 Database Systems, that are not part of the BS INTS major preparatory, major core, or major related courses)
  • General Track - Any ITSS upper-division courses, excluding ITSS 4301 Database Systems, that are not part of the BS INTS major preparatory, major core, or major related courses may be used to satisfy the 12 hours of guided elective credit.
12 Internship (Practicum) of at least 160 working hours required for all JSOM majors. ITSS 4090 Information Technology and Systems Internship or BA 4090 Management Internship for 0 credit hours fulfills degree requirement. 13 Community Engagement Experience required for all JSOM majors in fall 2018 catalog or later. Requirement fulfilled by (ENTP 4340 or IMS 4335 Social Sector Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement, or MKT 4360 Social Marketing) for 3-hour upper level guided elective; or BA 4095 Social Sector Engagement and Community Outreach Practicum for 0-hour degree requirement only. 14 BA 4095 Social Sector Engagement and Community Outreach Practicum is required, if not completing (ENTP 4340 or IMS 4335 Social Sector Entrepreneurship and Community Engagement, or MKT 4360 Social Marketing) for 3-hour guided elective credit. 15 Students using the internship and/or the community engagement experience to fulfill guided elective credit must ensure that they have at least 6 semester credit hours of guided electives with an ITSS prefix not including ITSS 4V90.
