Students admitted to the Professional Program in Accounting will be required to register for a one-credit hour elective in the spring semester of the junior year. |

CPA Requirements: Only certain accounting electives may be used to satisfy the 30 Accounting Hours Requirement for the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. A practicum experience of at least 160 working hours is required; the student has the option of zero to 3 semester credit hours, depending on the particular internship, and preference for additional electives. Internship requirement MUST be completed by graduation. |

Free Electives: 0-3 semester credit hours are required for the B.S. Accounting degree. Students who complete OPRE 3340 instead of MATH 1326 or PHIL 2303 will complete zero semester credit hours of free electives. Instead, these students should complete their second 090 Component Area Option Core Curriculum requirement. Students who complete MATH 1326 or PHIL 2303 instead of OPRE 3340 will complete three semester credit hours of free electives. |
