GISC4310 - Environmental and Health Policy in East Asia

GISC 4310 Environmental and Health Policy in East Asia (3 semester credit hours) Examines environmental and human health challenges in East Asia arising from rapid economic development, including pollution, resource depletion, pandemics, and climate change. It explores how governments and other actors address these issues through sustainable development strategies. This course will also focus on the role of the United States as it has been extensively involved in this region when necessary. The course begins with an overview of historical, geographic, socioeconomic, political, and cultural contexts in East Asia and emphasizes critical analysis of the interconnections between environment and human health in the region.
