A Certificate in Applied Experience Design and Research is offered by the Program for Media Arts and Design in the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology.

The Certificate in Applied Experience Design and Research provides focused learning in an applied area of expertise--user experience (UX) design--which is a needed role in companies focused on the creation and development of products, services, and experiences which are user-centric.

Admission Requirements

Good standing at UT Dallas is required for enrollment.

The Certificate in Creative Writing will provide students with training in creative writing alongside their primary undergraduate specializations in other disciplines.

A Certificate in Digital Media Arts is offered by the Program for Media Arts and Design in the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology.

The Certificate in Digital Media Arts provides focused learning in the use of technology in the design and production of artistic outputs. Skills in digital arts can be applied to commercial position such as graphic designer, videographer, product designer, or creative director. These skills are also an important component of creating digital content or digitally-created products for sale.

Students may register for the program in the same semester they begin taking the applicable courses but must do so before Census Day of that term.

The Certificate in Global Scholarship in the Arts and Humanities develops students' global awareness and intercultural understanding through advanced humanities coursework and international experience. Students will explore topics rooted in the study of culture, history, and the arts, enriched by a required intercultural communication course and an experiential component.

Students may declare the certificate in the same semester they begin taking applicable coursework but must do so before Census Day of that term.

Students must complete 3 credit hours towards an experiential component among the following options:

Study Abroad:

Courses applied to the International Experience requirement may not also be applied toward other requirements within this certificate.

This requirement may be satisfied through:

  • A semester or summer study abroad program completed through UT Dallas, or
  • A faculty-led international course or travel program approved by UT Dallas.

Eligible courses may be offered by any school at UT Dallas and may vary by term. The course must carry a minimum of 3 semester credit hours.

Advanced Language:

This requirement may be satisfied through completing any of the following advanced language courses of 3,000-level or higher:

Certificate in Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights

These interdisciplinary classes are dedicated to the study of mass murder, genocide, and persecution resulting from cultural, ethnic, political, religious, and racial differences and are especially beneficial to students graduating with degrees in History and the Humanities as well as many other areas of study.
