BIOL 4331 Applied Microbiology (3 semester credit hours) Explores current applications of microbes to address major challenges in health, industry, and the environment. Topics include probiotics, bioremediation, and biofuels, as well as methods for microbial discovery and genetic modification. Examines ethical considerations of applied microbiology, including regulatory and safety guidelines and how they change over time in response to advances in biotechnology. Prerequisite: BIOL 3303.
