BIOL3304 - Molecular Genetics of Bacteria

BIOL 3304 Molecular Genetics of Bacteria (3 semester credit hours) Focus will be on understanding the molecular genetics of bacteria and their viruses (bacteriophages). Fundamentally important genetic processes will be explained in terms of the properties of the molecules that participate in them. There will be some consideration of the experimental approaches that have been key to the development of the field. Classically important concepts and methods of bacterial genetics will be dealt with briefly, with a greater focus on modern molecular approaches that are applicable to many species of bacteria. Prerequisite: BIOL 3303. (3-0) R
