PSY3370 - Positive Psychology
PSY 3370 Positive Psychology (3 semester credit hours) Examines the fundamentals of positive psychology and what it means to lead a fulfilling and flourishing life. Scientific inquiry in psychology has often focused on dysfunction and disorder. Conversely, positive psychology addresses a variety of issues from a strengths rather than a deficit model and includes practical applications for ones own life. This course will examine the science of happiness and psychological well-being, including: the nature and measurement of happiness, the biological basis of positive emotions, and overview of positive trait theories, self-esteem, the mind-body connection, gratitude, emotional intelligence, altruism, decision-making, and the characteristics of successful relationships. Prerequisite: PSY 2301 or equivalent. (3-0) R
