BIOL 3322 Ecosystems (3 semester credit hours) Explores the fundamental characteristics of ecosystems, integrating biological and environmental sciences to understand Earth's biodiversity and interconnectedness. Examines the structure and function of terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems, emphasizing the interdependence of communities. Topics include biodiversity, sustainability, and human impact on ecosystems. Matter and energy flow, carbon and nutrient cycling, and the effects of climate change and global drivers are reviewed. Addresses conservation, resource management, and the importance of ecosystem goods and services for survival and economic development.
