BIOL 3312 Programming for Biological Sciences (3 semester credit hours) Principles and fundamentals to programming practices using Python designed for students in the biological sciences. Loops and iterations; function parameters, modules and packages. Special emphasis on programming paradigms like object-oriented programming and data structures like vectors, tuples and dictionaries. Applications to processing, modeling and analysis of biological data. Fundamentals and use of tools for biological computation including Biopython. Usage of Python Notebooks as an environment to perform computations and run programs. Prerequisites: (BIOL 2281 or equivalent) and BIOL 2311 and BIOL 2312. (3-0) T
