SOC3331 - Education and Society
SOC 3331 Education and Society (3 semester credit hours) This course examines how public educational institutions reflect and, in turn, influence social, economic, and political forces in the larger society. Major topics will include the relationship between schooling and social inequality; how public policies such as Brown v. Board of Education and No Child Left Behind have shaped American education; current public debates over educational equity and effectiveness; and the challenges facing public education in post-industrial society.
