MECH6336 - Manufacturing and Characterization of Functional Materials
MECH 6336 Manufacturing and Characterization of Functional Materials (3 semester credit hours) This course focuses on manufacturing, processing, and characterization of functional materials. Functional materials refer to engineering materials that are for functional applications (examples could include energy and environment, biomedical, electromechanical, among others). Functional materials include all types of materials including metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites. The course will emphasize manufacturing methods for functional materials including additive manufacturing (or 3D printing) and advanced manufacturing techniques, as well as advanced characterization techniques to quantify the functional behavior of the relevant materials.
