HMGT6411 - Healthcare Law for Physician Leaders
HMGT 6411 Healthcare Law for Physician Leaders (4 semester credit hours) This course examines how healthcare law impacts the practice, and the business of practicing and leading, medicine. Students will analyze legal considerations related to physician compensation and contracting with an emphasis on Stark, anti-kickback, fraud and abuse laws and regulations. Other topics include the legislation related to the practice of medicine and the legal duties associated with physician board membership, medical executive committee activities and leadership. It is recommended that students review basic U.S. jurisprudence prior to entering the course. Due to the broad nature of the topic, focus will remain on federal laws and regulations with intermittent inclusion of state specific legal issues. This course is only available to physicians enrolled in the Executive Education APL Program. (4-0) Y
