DBUA 7411 Overview of Business Research (4 semester credit hours) The purpose of this course is to introduce new students to current topics in business research in different functional areas like accounting, finance, information systems, marketing, organizational behavior, international business, and operations management. The goal is to ensure that students get an idea about the scope of research topics they can pursue and start forming interests in particular business areas early in the program. (4-0) Y
DBUA 7412 Probability and Statistics for Business (4 semester credit hours) This course introduces students to fundamental methods of statistical analysis used in social science research. The students will prepare data for analysis, conduct appropriate analysis and understand how to interpret the results. The students will utilize current state-of-the-art statistical tools to perform the analysis. (4-0) Y
DBUA 7413 Managerial Economics (4 semester credit hours) The course presents fundamental microeconomic and macroeconomic topics with a focus on business decisions. The students will be introduced to game theory to study strategic interactions and auctions. The course will also cover behavioral economics, which incorporates psychological insights into the analysis of economic and managerial decision-making. (4-0) Y
DBUA 7414 Overview of Research Methodologies (4 semester credit hours) This course is a counterpart to the course on the overview of business research. The students will be introduced to various research methods commonly used in business research. In particular, the course will focus on providing concepts and applications of empirical, analytical, and experimental research methods. Prerequisite: DBUA 7414. (4-0) Y
DBUA 7415 Advanced Research Methods I (4 semester credit hours) This course builds upon the Probability and Statistics for Business course and the overview of the research methodologies course. This course will focus on analytical techniques and their application to business programs. The course will cover various optimization techniques and their applications to business problems. Machine Learning techniques will also be covered in this course, along with their applications to data analysis. Software tools that facilitate the analysis will also be utilized. Prerequisite: DBUA 7412. (4-0) Y
DBUA 7416 Advanced Research Methods II (4 semester credit hours) The focus of this course is on empirical techniques for data analysis. The use of econometric models for analyzing business data will be covered. The course will also cover the application of data analysis techniques for causal analytics. It will cover the design of experiments in various forms like randomized control trials, quasi-experiments, and natural experiments. In addition, methods that aid in causal interpretation, e.g., matching methods like propensity score methods and Instrument variables, and their applications will be introduced. DBUA 7417 Advanced Research Methods III (4 semester credit hours) This course will address experimental techniques for analyzing decision problems. Students will be introduced to designing and running an experiment with human subjects. Survey methodologies and how to design, administer, and evaluate results effectively will be presented. Prerequisite: DBUA 7416. (4-0) Y
DBUA 7418 Research Projects I (4 semester credit hours) The first-year research project focuses on students identifying a research problem and developing a data collection and analysis plan. A sample data collection and analysis using techniques covered in the first year will need to be completed, and students will have to submit a paper by the end of the summer term. Prerequisites: DBUA 7412 and DBUA 7413. (4-0) Y
DBUA 7419 Research Projects II (4 semester credit hours) The second-year paper requires the student to identify a research problem within their organization. The students will be required to collect the necessary data to analyze the problem. A detailed analysis of the appropriate data analysis techniques to study the problem will have to be provided. It is expected at the end of the summer term, this problem and the path for analysis will form the foundation for the dissertation. Prerequisite: DBUA 7418. (4-0) Y
