VPAS 6362 Film and Genre (3 semester credit hours) This course addresses the history and theory of genres and their place in film art and popular culture. Topics may include specific genres (the western, horror, the musical, or film noir) as well as related areas (the intersections of melodrama with women's films, the many genres connected to comedy, the hybridization of science fiction and horror, comparison of genres from Hollywood and elsewhere, etc.). May be repeated for credit as topics vary (9 semester credit hours maximum). (3-0) R
