STAT 5304 (BIMS 5304) Introduction to Human Health Research (3 semester credit hours) Basic statistical principles of research; research designs; data collection methods; random variables, probability distributions, independence, correlation, point estimation; sampling distributions; confidence intervals and hypothesis testing; comparison of populations; simple and multiple linear regression. Applications to human health. Use of a statistical software package. May not be used to satisfy degree requirements for graduate programs in statistics; data science; and bioinformatics and computational biology. Prerequisites: One semester of Calculus and one semester of statistics. (3-0) Y
